The museum is conveniently located in Mathews Park, offering families access to green grass and fresh air. Our award-winning building serves as exhibit itself. Upon arrival, children are drawn to the museum's whimsical tower - its windows are eyes, ears and a mouth; its nose is a sundial; its hat a birdcage where flights of fancy are hatched; and the hat has a "feathervane" in honor of the local folk hero, Yankee Doodle Dandy.
What does learning sound like? Step inside to find out. There’s water splashing, balls clanging, cranks cranking, gears grinding and toucans calling from the rainforest. Children are playing, laughing and discovering. You’ll hear – look what I can do, hey Mom and Dad and check this out. A visit to Stepping Stones is truly a multi-sensory experience – children will learn by touching, looking and listening.
Stay a while. Enjoy lunch in our cafe - or pack your own. After leaving, venture over to Devon’s Place - a boundless playground designed as a model for safety and accessibility for all children, including those with special needs. Slides, swings and climbing gear await you.
And finally, pack a camera! Our exhibits, programs, special events and park setting offer great photo opportunities for visitors to capture memories from their visit. There’s also a gift shop with great educational toys, games and books – as well as museum t-shirts and memorabilia.
Visit soon! We know you’ll come back.
