WOW Weekends

There’s always something to do!

Our Worlds of Wonder! (WOW!) weekend events events boost the “every day fun” at Stepping Stones with astounding, awe-inspiring “happenings,” variety shows and special events brimming with creativity, invention and intention.

Show Up, Kids!

Saturday, November 19
Sunday, November 20
11:00 am and 1:00 pm

This internationally acclaimed, entirely unique, semi-improvised family show with music for children ages 3 – 10 years old puts a comedic twist on the traditional children’s show. When the main attraction doesn’t show up, our hapless host enlists the children (and their grownups) to help create a show from set to sound, plot to props, and costumes to characters. What could possibly go wrong?

Free with museum admission. Space is limited. Tickets will be distributed in the museum on the day of the show on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Nutcracker

Saturday, December 17

Celebrate the holiday season with The Nutcracker. The New Canaan-based New England Academy of Dance performs an abbreviated production of The Nutcracker ballet. Showcasing dancers from the company, as well as esteemed professionals from New York City, The Nutcracker brings audiences of all ages together to celebrate dance and holiday traditions. This interactive event allows audience members to meet-and-greet the characters and participate in a dance workshop aimed to inspire young dancers.

A Hanukkah with Mazel Puppet Performance

Sunday, December 18
11:00 am and 1:00 pm

Enjoy a special puppet performance adapted from Joel Edward Stein children’s book, A Hanukkah with Mazel, about an artist named Misha who goes out to milk his cow and discovers a cat in his barn, trying to keep warm.  He happily takes in the cat, gives her food and names her Mazel. The two spend the winter days together as Misha paints. They spend Hanukkah together as well, eating latkes and painting.
